This beautiful 17th century Italian home was built in 1633, and was one of the first houses built in our village so as to accommodate the needs of the Church located directly across the street. It was also lived in by the famous Italian painter, Francesco Guarini (of whom the street is named after).
We purchased this home to comfortably accommodate our little family while we waited for the purchase of our acreage to finalize. After nearly two years of living in tight quarters with our family throughout the pandemic, we decided it was time to have our own space. Francesco Guarini was the perfect solution. An opportunity for us to earn sweat equity and gain Italian renovation experience that will provide us with passive income in the future.

The Strategy
This property was initially purchased with the intentions of being a buy and hold. However, by creating two separate apartments (essentially a duplex) there are also options to turn it into a short term rental property, or flip it to turn a profit. As it stands, the property is our primary residence.
We have now almost finalized the lower apartment renovation, and soon will be turning our attention upstairs to extend the bathroom and add a kitchenette to complete the suite. Most work has been completed ourselves.
The Location
The unit itself is located in a quiet, historical area of town, next to the Church and steps away from the grocery market.
The town of Solofra is in the valley of Campania, just 30 minutes away from both the beginning of both the Amafli and Cilento Coast.
